This is an attractive 11" by 13-1/2" drawing titled Report on Rafting on the Mississippi River by Lieut. H. E. Waterman. The drawing was a tipped in drawing from an 1892 US Government report from The Army Corps of Engineers to the Secretary of War. The drawing shows a raft, insets of construction details of a raft and 2 soldiers winching a raft along a cable. Drawing is in very good condition - no toning at fold - any darkness at fold is shadowing in the image - not brittle - no tears - very clean.

This is a lot of 2 items.They are from an 1891 US Geological Survey Report. They are both 7-1/2" by 11" bookplate prints - one is a photo of Sweetwater Dam (near San Diego, California) titled "View Of Sweetwater Dam" and the other is a drawing titled "Sweetwater Dam - Plan, Cross Section and Details of Wasteway". Several loose pages of text describing the dam are included. All items in good condition.


18283 1892 W. Faircloth/NC Confed. Soldier Engraving $10.00

This is a 7-1/2" by 10" engraving of William Turner Faircloth , originally of Edgecombe County, North Carolina and after the war of Goldsboro, North Carolina.. He became a lawyer prior to the Civil War and fought during the War in Company C, of the Second North Carolina commanded by Col. C. C. Tew and was in the Army of Northern Virginia until its surrender at Appomattox Court House at the end of the war. He was also a delegate to the provisional state convention after the war. The print comes with one page of text describing his family and career. The print is from an 1892 volume titled "Cyclopedia of Eminent and Representative Men of the Carolinas of the Nineteenth Century". Good condition - print is on heavy paper - printed one side only - suitable for framing.

This is a 4 page, 5-1/2" by 8-1/2", program for a literary contest held at Maben's Opera House in the Utica New York area in the 1880's or 1890's (not dated but paper and print appear to be from the 1880's period).
