The magazine measures 11-1/2" by 15-1/2" and contains 24 pages. It has a full page of prints and a related article about Canada's 1st Ice Railway. The railway was between Longueil and Hochelaga in the Montreal area of Quebec and crossed the St. Lawrence River. The railroad was inaugurated on January 31, 1880. The 3 illustrations are titled: - Following the Train

- Firing at the Train (taking a photo - train stopped in the middle of the river on its first run to be photographed). The descriptive article is fairly brief. This is the January 7, 1899 issue of the Boston Journal of Commerce devoted to textile manufacturing - primarily the cotton and wool industry. The paper has an interesting article titled "Montana's Ice Mine" that describes a hole in the ground that has ice in it in the middle of summer. The "ice mine" is located in Custer County, MT near the summit of the Little Wolf mountains on the north slope. The article describes how the "ice mine" was formed and how it retains its winter ice through the summer. Paper is in exceptional condition - very clean - not brittle. The paper measures 13-1/2" by 19" and contains 16 pages. It contains the last will and testament of Major General Charles Lee (American Revolutionary War) giving the details of his bequeaths. The will has a hunorous last paragraph that reads "I desire most earnestly that I may not be buried in any church or church yard, or within a mile of any Presbyterian or Anababtist meeting house; for since I resided in this country, I have kept so much bad company when living, that I do not choose to continue it when dead". The magazine also has a full page engraving of a Russian Muskrat and a Russian Mus-Jaculus or Jumper.

It has about 1/2 column of American news with a very brief reports from Charles-Town, South Carolina that the General Assembly of Georgia met at Savanna and was disbanded in 3 days. It mentions a very severe winter in Virginia and Maryland, and in Pennsylvania, new York and the Jerseys the winter was mild. The remainder of the report is from Boston and it talks about a speech Governor Hutchinson made to the General Assembly about their complaint of where the assembly meetings were held. There is a related 4/5 column article describing Whitechapel, the area made famous by Jack The Ripper, and Renouard's drawing. 1904 Ornate Russian Newspaper w/Color Print $18.00 This is a 1904 Russian newspaper that measures 10-1/2" by 14" and contains 4 pages. It is apparently a special issue as it has a special logo and ornate red border on the front page that other issues do not have. I don't speak Russian and do not know what the occasion was. It is entirely in Russian and is in fairly good condition with some edge chips and it is separated at the spine. Nice small framable size - guaranteed to be authentic.

It contains a 1-1/3 page article titled "Account of the Present Comet". It describes the comet of 1743 in a fair amount of detail, describing viewing it through a 20 foot telescope.
