About Us

Pocono Primitives is owned and operated by Dick and Donna Haines of Troy, Pennsylvania. We have many years of experience in the antique business where we specialized in authentic antique country primitive furniture.    This experience has been applied to our line of reproduction country primitive furniture resulting in what we believe to be some of the most authentic looking reproductions of this style of furniture and accessories available today.   All of the items in our catalog are built and finished by us in our shop in Troy, PA.

We also had a business known as "oldbooksandpaper.com" for several years (no longer our web site or business name) where we sold antique newspapers books and magzines and other paper collectibles. We recently (8/2009) added the site http://www.poconoprimitives.com/newspapers as a branch of Pocono Primitives where we will, after an absence from the business of 6 or 7 years, offer a variety of antique newspapers and magazines and a few old books and collectible paper items.

Some of you may be curious as to why our name is Pocono Primitives when we live in the heart of Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains. We started the business in the Poconos but soon outgrew our facilities. For a host of reasons, some personal and some business related, we moved from the Hawley, PA area in the Pocono Mountains to Troy, PA in Bradford County in the heart of the Endless Mountains. The name Pocono Primitives was already established and it did not make sense to change the name. Besides, Endless Primitives just doesn't have the same ring or connotation.
