President of a 75 day cruise that started at Providence, Rhode Island on Dec. 5th, 1813 and arrived at Sandy Hook, NJ on Feb. 19, 1814 via the West Indies. He describes engagements on the way and the sinking of several British Ships. Other reports in this issue are:

War Of 1812 - Barbarities of The Enemy $18.00 This is the September 18, 1813 issue of
Niles Weekly Register, a small, 6" by 9-1/2", 16 page, weekly newspaper published in Baltimore, MD by Hezekia Niles. This issue has a lot of War Of 1812 coverage including a bout 5 pages, beginning on the front page about Barbaraties of the British toward American Seamen. The article contains a series of about 25 letters between J. W. Croker, R. G. Beasley (British), Lord Castlereagh, Alexander McLeay, and John Barrow. The paper also contains a section titled "Events Of The War" that is about 4 pages in length and describes recent incidents of the War of 1812. Some of the reports are:

War of 1812/US Burns Ship @ Presquisle Canada $24.00 This is the July 20, 1814 issue of
The United States Gazette newspaper published in Philadelphia. It is a small format paper that measures only 10" by 13" and contains 8 pages. It has a 1-1/4 column letter from Commodore Chauncey to the Secretary of the Navy about a daring act by our soldiers in Presque'isle, Quebec, Canada in destroying a British ship that was under construction. The ship was with a few days of being completed and launched when US Navy Lt. Gregory, and sailors Vaughn and Dixon sailed to Nicholas Island where they hid until an appropriate time then went to Presque'isle and burned the ship that was under construction. Some of the other war content in the paper is:

It has an inside page report titled "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantation" that is a statement by the General Assembly about the defenselessness of the state due to the current events of the War. The statement is signed by B. Hazard for the committee. Paper is in good condition - not brittle - from a bound volume.

War of 1812 - Albany NY Safe House Ad $24.00 This is the July 3, 1812 issue of the
New York Evening Post newspaper published in New York City by Michael Burnham & Co. It has a front page ad titled "A Safe Retreat From The Alarm of War" that is offering for sale the mansion of General Schuyler, the Revolutionary War general . The mansion was located about 1/2 mile south of the capitol in Albany, NY. Paper is in good condition - quite clean - not brittle - from a bound volume.
